My name is Michael C Barber III and I love to create. Whether it’s a new design, or the ideas laying the groundwork for a small business. If It hasn’t been done, I’m the guy that’s going to find a way to do it. Right now I’m a professional in the UI/UX design space as well as a successful small business owner in St. Louis. I have a wife, 2 kids and a dog and their smiling faces are what truly makes me happy.

I don't shy away from challenges
My professional history dates back to commissioned sales in Sears electronics. I discovered I had an excitement for technology and people alike. This was my first job and I was only 16yrs old in a suit, out selling co-workers in their late 40’s cashing in over thousands of dollars a week. The fact that I was only a sophomore in high school, balancing homework, varsity wrestling and track, should give a hint that I don’t shy away from challenges.
– Fun Fact: My boss taught me how to tie my tie before walking out on the floor on my first day.
New Passion
Moving on from Sears, I continued my retail experience at Best Buy learning more and more about consumers, their thought process and buying habits. I was also attending Ranken College majoring in Architecture & engineering. I always loved drawing, but It was there where I became skilled at drawing through software and learned the basics of html. I began designing on the side, learning advanced code with books from the library, and even taking on clients. It was through these new paths that I discovered a new passion.
– Fun Fact: I was the President of the Car Club, and organized the yearly Open House / Car Show still running today.
Things don't always go as planned
After college, i continued my stint at Best Buy since i didn’t get either of the 2 unpaid internships that over 300 grads from the St. Louis area was competing for. But I also started acquiring clients and customers looking for design work. I then opened up my first business, a design shop, in a little office in Central West End catering to those in the medical field. Business was booming for almost 2yrs, and then it wasn’t. Un-phased, I shopped my portfolio around, worked a few contracts and eventually landed a position at Integrated Network Cable
– Fun Fact: I actually became a real estate agent prior to landing a job at INC and I had 1 buyer before the real estate market started to implode.
